GCRB statement
16 December 2024
The Minister for Higher and Further Education; and Minister for Veterans, Graeme Dey, has confirmed that Glasgow Colleges’ Regional Board will be dissolved by the academic year 2025/26, following the conclusion of the formal consultation. The Scottish Government consultation analysis report, published on 12 December, is available here.
The formal consultation, Review of the Regional Strategic Bodies within the Glasgow and Lanarkshire college regions, concluded in September, following the Minister’s announcement of his preferred option to dissolve Glasgow Colleges Regional Board in May 2024.
Over the past ten years, GCRB has managed the region’s funding, strategic planning, performance and collaborative approach. Working with Glasgow’s three colleges, GRCB has focused on successful outcomes for learners, staff and colleges and strengthening communities and the wider economy. GCRB has also delivered direct benefits to students within the Glasgow college system and built coherent approaches in relation to regional and national priorities.
GCRB will work closely with its Board, Scottish Funding Council and Scottish Government over the coming months to ensure the best outcomes for staff, students and communities in the Glasgow college region.
