Glasgow Colleges' Regional Board has appointed David Newall as Chair of Glasgow Clyde College and Dave Anderson as the Chair of City of Glasgow College.

 

David Newall has been Chair of the Board of Management at Glasgow Clyde College and a member of Glasgow Colleges' Regional Board since July 2016. David is a history graduate and an accountant, and his professional career has been in local government and higher education management, most recently as University Secretary and Director of Administration at the University of Glasgow (2004-17). He is a member of the Colleges Scotland Employers' Association and of the Colleges Scotland Good Governance Steering Group.  

 

Dave Anderson is a non-executive member of the City of Glasgow College Board and will be Chair from 1 August 2024. Dave is a history graduate and has a master's degree in education. He has over 30 years of experience in senior roles in skills policy, economic development and urban regeneration. He was Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise Dunbartonshire and chair of Strathclyde European Partnership ltd and Frontline ManagementHe led economic development at Scottish Enterprise in Edinburgh and the Lothians and at the City of Edinburgh Council. Through his own consulting company, he has filled senior interim roles and delivered projects for a range of clients, most recently as Head of Investment for the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. He is a trustee on the board of Right There, a charity preventing homelessness and President of Helensburgh cricket and rugby Club. Dave will replace Alisdair Barron, who will complete his term as Chair of City of Glasgow College at the end of July.

“We also look forward to welcoming Dave Anderson as the Chair of City of Glasgow College. Dave currently serves as a non-executive board member at the college and brings solid senior leadership skills and economic development experience as the new Chair.”  

  

The appointments are for up to four years.
